Privacy Policy — Overhead

Overhead ("the app," "we," "us") is built to collect as little as possible. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what data the app uses and where it goes.
The short version
- No account and no sign-in.
- We run no servers of our own and keep none of your data.
- Everything you create in the app — favorites, spotting stats, medals — stays on your device.
- We never sell, rent, or share your personal data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Location
Overhead uses your device's precise location to place aircraft and celestial objects at their true positions relative to you, and to compute local sky events (such as eclipse timing and visibility).
To show the aircraft near you, the app sends your approximate coordinates to public flight-data providers (see Third-party services below) so they can return the traffic in your area. These requests contain your location and, for a given flight, its callsign or identifier — but no name, account, device identifier, or anything that identifies you. We do not operate these providers and do not receive, log, or store these requests; they go directly from your device to the provider.
If you decline location access, the app still works in a demo / dark-sky mode.
Camera
In augmented-reality mode, Overhead uses the camera to show the live sky behind the on-screen labels. The camera image is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. You can use the app fully with the camera off (Dark sky mode).
Data stored on your device
Favorites, spotting statistics, medals and tiers, and your settings are stored only on your device and are never uploaded. Deleting the app removes them.
Third-party services
To provide flight and sky data, the app makes requests to the following independent services. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

We do not control these services and are not responsible for their practices.
What we don't do
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDKs.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No data brokers — we never sell or share your data.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking. (We don't use App Tracking Transparency because we don't track you.)
Children's privacy
Overhead does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this address.
